WORKSHOP

 

                         Our workshop is located in Kanyakumari district,the southern 
tip  of  India. We have a  group  of  well  trained  craftsmen  under  the  guidance  of 
Sirpa Chemmal M Selva Raja 
             
 
cast works
                          Solid castings are basically made  by  traditional  investment casting 
 process or lost-waxprocess.The art work is first made in a special wax . Then it is covered  
 by moulding sand.This is dried and is heated in a oven so that the wax inside melts down
 and comes out. this hollow mold is now ready for pouring.It is fired to burn all the residue
 wax and  molten metal is poured.The casting is then hand finished and polished.


sheet works
                    For making the  kavajams  ( sheet metal coverings ) for the existing idols
 Peedams first  the impressions of existing stone sculptures are taken in wax. This is used
 to make a replica of the idol or sculpture from which the kavajams in  sheet Gold,Silver or
 Brass.
                 
    
                  Before taking the finished Moolavigraha or kavajams to temple for installation
 in the GarbaGraha ( the main workship area where the idols are placed) special poojas are 
 made by the Sirpi to make them divine. After this day  the daily poojas should be performed
